Students will watch the video “Saving money” and discuss the following concepts covered:

  • What are some examples of smaller purchases you may want to save money for? What about some larger things, which cost more money?  
  • What is retirement?
  • Why is saving for the future important?

Students will watch the video “S.M.A.R.T. Goals” and discuss the following concepts covered

  • Why might money goals be more successful if the specific details were measurable?
  • Why is it important to have a money goal that’s relevant and important to you?

Activity 1: Worksheet S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Students will review S.M.A.R.T. Goals and complete a worksheet to explain what it means for a goal to be: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound.

Activity 2: Dream it and do it!

Students will brainstorm personal goals for spending and saving, then create a savings plan.
